A new campaign so a new character. The world is essentially that from One Piece with a slightly more D&D flavor. We were given the prompt that we are all on a ship, we get along and have a reason for working together (no internal strife!), and one of my other friends is the current captains. I started brainstorming ideas and decided I'd never played an arcane caster, and after a bit of playing with the character builder I figured I'd try a bladesinger. Say what you will of the class, it's kinda fun, and I don't require optimal anything!
Next was the fun part: Background! A lot of brainstorming and I decided to steal one of my favorite characters from a Mel and Christy story - Shi no Kami! Arcane caster, but also good with a weapon, perfect fit! Of course I changed things a bit, and added my own flavor, then talked to my DM as I was writing it up.
At this point, I should mention that I have never seen or read One Piece. Thus I didn't know that there is a character in the show with a very similar background to the one I was making. Makes me wonder if Mel and Christy got their inspiration there... Anyway, the result is that my character has a tie to the story, and the DM is super happy. Everyone wins!
So here it is: Deyala - Part One
